August 9, 2017 - After wet conditions forced cancellation of last week’s action, drivers have two chances this coming weekend to earn valuable late-season Lucas Cattle Company ULMA Championship Points at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City on Friday night, followed by a return visit to Central Missouri Speedway on Saturday.

In ULMA’s last appearance at Lakeside Speedway in late May, Aaron Marrant used his experience at the track to claim the victory. In fact, the victory was Marrant’s last trip to victory lane this season, meaning he will be eager to return to the track for another shot at the spotlight on Friday night.

This Friday’s event marks the third attempt at the conclusion of the RacinDirt.com ULMA Double-Down Showdown. The showdown was originally slated to take place over the Independence Day weekend. The event started on June 29th at Lucas Oil Speedway, where Johnny Fennewald claimed the victory. With his victory back in June, Fennewald leads the showdown standings. Drivers will compete in and will receive points for their heat race finishes and the main event finish to determine the final standings for the 2-race mini-series. The winner will take home a sizeable trophy and some extra cash courtesy of RacinDirt.com. Second and third place finishers in the showdown will also take away extra prize money for their efforts.

After the conclusion of the showdown on Friday, racing continues as drivers return to Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri on Saturday night for only the second appearance of the year at the track this year. Back in early May, CMS veteran Shad Badder lit up the track and the crowd with his first-ever ULMA victory in a showdown with Aaron Marrant and Jon Binning second and third followed by Aaron Poe, Dylan Hoover and Layne Ehlert rounding out the top six.

ULMA will return to the Missouri State Fair Speedway on Sunday, August 20th during the Missouri State Fair as part of the program to close out the fair. ULMA will support the ASCS National Sprint Car tour during this event. The race will pay at least $700 to win and $100 to start the main event. This is a rare and distinguished opportunity for ULMA drivers to compete at and add their name to the storied list of drivers that have turned laps at the ‘Historic Half-Mile’ in Sedalia, Missouri.

All competing drivers must either purchase the yearly license or a temporary license to race in this weekend’s events. The 2017 license form is printable from the ULMA website.
