July 17, 2017 - Dustin Hodges wrapped up a track championship at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri last Friday evening in the final ULMA event at the track for his fifth win of the season. However, it was a bittersweet moment as the Callaway Raceway season came to a close as previously scheduled. Additionally, the Atterberry family announced the track was now closed, quite possibly for good, unless another promoter leases the track as the Atterberry’s expressed they will no longer run the facility.
ULMA wishes to thank the Atterberry family and all of their staff members for hosting ULMA events over the last 11 seasons of our existence. The track was and still is known for the exciting race action it produces and although we are sad to see the track closing, we are hopeful another promotions group will come in and operate the always competitive track with ULMA as part of the action.
Behind Hodges at the conclusion of the Callaway Raceway event were Dylan Hoover, Todd McCoin, Chris Cox, and current ULMA point’s leader Cody Holtkamp. For information on the final point standings, the facility and the upcoming Callaway Count Fair visit www.callawayraceways.com.

ULMA was recently contacted by the new promotions company taking over operations at the Missouri State Fair Speedway effective immediately. MC Promotions assured ULMA board members that the race date scheduled for Sunday, August 20th during the Missouri State Fair is still very much a part of the action to close out the fair. ULMA will support the ASCS National Sprint Car tour during this event. The race will pay $700 to win and $100 to start the main event. This is a rare and distinguished opportunity for ULMA drivers to compete at and add their name to the storied list of drivers that have turned laps at the ‘Historic Half-Mile’ in Sedalia, Missouri.
Looking forward, ULMA and Lake Ozark Speedway recently announced an agreement for five ULMA-sanctioned events to be held at the speedway during the late summer. For complete schedule information visit the track’s website at www.lakeozarkspeedway.net or www.ulmaracing.com. The first ULMA-sanctioned date at the rack falls on Saturday, August 5th with four additional sanctioned events (as of now) on September 2, 8, 9, and 16.
All competing drivers must either purchase the yearly license or a temporary license to race in this weekend’s events. The 2017 license form is printable from the ULMA website. The season schedule and additional association information may be found on the site. You may also keep up-to-date on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ULMA-United-Late-Model-Association.
